Why Intensive Therapy?

Picture
Have you ever been in a traditional therapy session (50-60 minute session)?  Do you know how they usually run? The first 15-30 minutes are spent checking-in and the next 20-30 minutes is spent working on an issue identified during check in.  Often it seems time runs out just when you and the therapist truly connect to the issue you need to work on. The next week you come back and follow the same format and you might continue working on the issue of the previous week or some other life event might have surfaced that becomes the focus of the session.

It’s because of this experience I have a saying that guides my practice “you can’t recreate moments.” I have tried using the traditional therapy format and have found that “time is up” right when the client and I are truly in the zone with each other and the issue at hand. It’s in these moments I would think if only I had more time we could dig deeper and finally get the relief the person wants in their life.  I also find that sometimes for various reasons we never get back to that level of engagement with the issue because as I stated earlier you cannot just recreate these type of moments they have to happen naturally.

In addition, the traditional therapy format is difficult for people who have a lot of life demands.  Often times people have to squeeze a therapy session in between work, kids, chores and other life responsibilities.  While the person may be committed to the therapy process, they cannot keep thoughts of their next task from creeping into the therapy hour and robbing them of the mental energy they need to heal.

Do any of the above describe your experience with therapy?

It is for these reasons I have chosen to structure my sessions using an extended format (up to 6 hours per day). Not only have I chosen extended sessions, I have also chosen to use an intensive format and to offer the therapy in a retreat-like setting. This means you can choose to book multiple days in a row so we can accomplish even more in a short amount of time.  In order to take advantage of this intensive option people travel to the town I reside in, Moultrie, GA. While this may seem like an inconvenience, it is actually another level of relief for many people as they can truly check-out of their normal life responsibilities and shift their entire focus and mental energy to achieve the healing they deserve. If you are ready to commit to yourself and move past the barriers holding you back then book an intensive with me.
